Although it was shutdown by the 1870s, this old iron furnace in New England's Housatonic Valley still stands sentinel in the same spot where it was constructed nearly a century-and-half ago. The busy commotion of an around-the-clock iron furnace operation would've been ever-present here in the 19th-century, but it has since been supplanted by the quietude of shady woodlands.
