“Yankee Farmlands № 21”
Lebanon, Connecticut
— Part of the
Yankee Farmlands Project —
My latest piece brings us to a quiet expanse of snow-buried farmland in Lebanon, Connecticut. The broad, bare crown of a dormant tree rises tall from the barren landscape, while a small farm shed, fence gate and fuel tank have nearly been consumed by the ever-deepening blanket of snow.
As you've probably noticed, this piece is a black & white photograph; a first for my Yankee Farmlands series, as the past 20 installments have been in color. Beneath overcast skies and entombed in snow, this winter scenery was remarkably bereft of natural color. But what it lacked in palette, it more than made up for with contrast, form and simplicity.
